I've heard they are better compared to previous years.....but what is better about them?

All i know is that they are supposed to have better fluid flow.

Anything else?

They have a larger input sprag, wider low/reverse roller clutch assembly, a forward accumlator for softer engagement into any forward position, better part throttle shift timing, etc. Starting in 1991, they added the Viton input to output shaft seal, this virtually eliminated rear planetary burnup.

dana i find it surprising that you think the viton seal had anything to do with planetary failure.i do understand the circuit but that statement is absurd.im not singling you out i just find it incomprehensible that you find that to be factual.
