What aftermarket Automatic Tranny cooler did you go with?

I'm looking at the Jegs catalog and see several choices. Last time I went to the TH350, I got the biggest B&M cooler (in terms of cooling) I could find. Just wondering what you guys might have opted to use and your 'happiness' level with it.
Thanks,
Dave

B&M super cooler here too. Does the job just fine and mines not even that big.

B&M plate style cooler

long tru cool LPD

It was recommended by cpt before the whole scandal thing. Long produces OEM quality coolers. I have one that could pass for a honda radiator. Worth every penny.

B&M Super Cooler. Largest one I could get my hands on. Normal operating temp is around 210 w/stock cooler. Mine runs around 180 riding around and has never been over 200 while monitoring it with datamaster at the track. I route mine direct from and to the tranny bypassing the radiator cooler with said results. Maine reason I do this is due to any problems that may occur with the stock radiator ie cracking and seeping radiator fluid into the tranny and destroying the tranny. This happened to my brother and he had to have a complete rebuild of his brand new CPT tranny due to the stock radiator failure. Frank rebuilt has tranny at the cost of the shipping only.

B&M for me.

If you do not have a fan installed on the cooler i do not reccomend bypassing the factory cooler. Sitting at a stop light with no flow across the cooler would heat up the fluid very quickly.

You'll have to show me data to back this up. I have run my B&M 70266 cooler for 5 years and I have never seen this event occur. It has functioned flawlessly for me. Perhaps it depends on the mounting. Mine is in front of the condensor, so it has air flowing across it when the radiator fans are on. IDK, but this has been my experience.

Since my M6 Griffin radiator did not have a tranny cooler, when I went to the TH400, I installed a PermaCool fan assisted unit.

I just bought a Yank super street 3600 stall converter and while reading various threads, it appears I need a tranny cooler with the higer stall. B&M looks like the overwhelming favorite. Bypassing the stock radiator: Good or bad idea? I have seen info from both sides and I like the fact that the tranny runs much cooler with the bypass. I don't like the possibility of radiator failure taking out my tranny too. Thoughts?

Radiators rarely fail here. Running both will depend on where you live, the temperature in the summer and the winter, in the city or out in the middle of nowhere. You can try both ways and see what works best for you. The type of fluid you use here will have some bearing on temperature also.

TCI 820500 according to Jegs. It was cheap when I got it and fairly large. Mounted right in front of my radiator where the cool air comes in.

Edit: just noticed how old this thread is...

Ok, thanks for the advice. Car will be in San Antonio, one of the hottest cities in the country, year-round no less. That is why I want to go with this tranny cooler just to be safe, and its not expensive at all. The city is overcrowded and there's tons of stop and go traffic. I also don't think the tranny running cooler is worth risking a radiator- which can take out a ton of other components. Thanks again.
