What is this?

What is this that I have the red arrow pointing to? I just noticed today that there is a bolt/screw missing where I have circled and there seems to be some dirt and grease and stuff that got up in there. Could this cause a problem? This is a 95 z28 6 speed. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, that's just a dust shield to stop massive amounts of dirt/water from getting up into the clutch/flywheel/bellhousing. At least it's still in place ... if it were missing completely would be a different story. Put a new bolt in there and be on your way .
