Vibrating from the rear

Hello. I was driving my 94 camaro z28 today on the highway and i came to a stop and go and while i was accelerating to 50 my car would buck a little and when i got to 60 i would press on the gas and it felt like my back tires would wobble. it shook the whole car but it was coming from the rear. and i pressed on the gas a little harder and my rpms just revved like as if the transmission was slipping and the back would be vibrating like crazy. I dont think its my transmission because it would cruise at a normal speed at 60mph at 2000 rpms. and it wasnt down shifting or anything. Also it has like 12K miles on the rebuild. as i got home my back tires would shake everytime i tried to accelerate. and it would make a nasty clanking shaking noise too. I think its my rearend the car has 166xxx miles on it except the transmission 4l60E. To determin if my rear end is the culprit would i jsut have to pull off the cover and look for metal shavings? I dont have a jack with me and it was in the middle of the night so Im going to jack it up to tomorrow to see if my driveshaft has movement. Any thoughts is greatly appreciated! thanks!

Sounds 100% like rear end issue. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news confirming your fears. Good excuse to build a better one though.

oh by the way...rebuilding a rear end is simple...took about 4 hours and a case of beer but besides that its just a few tools and a friend.

!!! :( Its the transmission.

Its the transmission!!! I refilled the diff. and i took it for a drive. the transmission slips. I didnt feel any vibrations tho? After driving it. the trans fluid is getting dirty and smells burnt! . I dont understand why it broke.it didnt have leaks or slipped before. . It only has 11,000 miles on the rebuild! my warranty expired in august. this is very depressing.
