Very bad Vibrations
Very bad Vibrations
I have had this problem for a while but it seems like it is getting worse. The problem is when i put the car in reverse and when i'm letting the clutch out the whole car shakes really bad. It feels like its coming from the tranny. It also does this in 1st gear when i'm takeing off. Sometimes it also does it when i'm turning a corner in 1st or second gear. Iv'e noticed that it doesn't really do it as much when i first start the car in the morning. It seems like it gets worse the longer i drive the car. Also the longer i drive the car it seems like it gets harder to put the car into Reverse and 1st gear. Usually 1st isn't a problem to get into but reverse is really hard to get into after i drive the car for a while. The problem of the car not wanting to go into reverse or 1st gear just recently started happening though. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. I also already have a Poly Tranny mount and it is not broken.
Sounds like you have clutch chatter. My less than 100 mile old McLeod single disc clutch does it too. I imagine it should be gone by the time it is completely broken in. I usually take off with revs just a hair above idle and get no chatter at all. Slightly more revs cause a bit of chatter but it disappears if I let the clutch slip even slightly. Of course, slipping the clutch isn't the best way to prolong its life, so I'll just live with the chatter until it's gone.
Getting into 1st and reverse is a problem with mine too. I believe the McLeod disc is thicker than stock and causes disengagement problems unless you get an adjustable master cylinder. However, the clutch has gone from being impossible to get into gear when it was brand new to reasonably easy to drive now. I can get reverse with just a little more effort than with the old clutch. In your case, it sounds like you might be low on clutch fluid since you say it's getting worse. Air could have gotten in there and you might need to bleed the system. There is a caveat though - the brilliant design of the LT1's clutch hydraulics renders them unbleedable the traditional way. I have heard about people using a Mitty Vac to bleed them. You might want to do a search on this.
If your car's shaking going around a corner, you might have rear end problems. Could be a worn out posi (they'll grind and shake when past their prime) or even broken spider gears. Do you hear any clunking or banging sounds from the rear end?

Thats what i'm talking about i hear a loud banging and clunking sound. But it happenes when i'm trying to back up and i can be barly moving so thats why i'm not sure if it is the rear. But the same clunk/bang noise that i hear and feel when i reverse or sometimes when in 1st gear is the same one i feel/hear when i'm turning a corner and it does it. Somebody said that maybe my tranny is loose or something like that. I know when i was installing my clutch the tranny was about 1/4 inch away from the bellhousing. That was the closest i could get it. Everything was lined up also. So i just used the bolts and tightened them down 1 at a time evenly to pull it together.

. I wasn't able to get mine any closer than 1/4" either, thanks to a misaligned clutch disc. It was close enough for me to thread the bolts through, but you can't force these things together. It's all aluminum and way too easy to cross thread those bolts and ruin more stuff. Check this thread out for how I solved the problem without opening anything up. You need to get back under the car and retorque your tranny-bellhousing bolts. I am pretty sure that's the problem here. The slop in the tranny would also explain why your clutch is getting harder to disengage.
