Uh oh.... 10B noise.. Normal? HELP!

Uh oh... I have a sneaking suspicion my 10B is on it's way out... It's never in my 5 years of ownership seen slicks or stickies, but I do break them loose quite often.. Not a lot of hard launches or power shifts.

I have noticed quite a bit of "Ka klunk ka klunk ka klunk ka klunk" noise from the rear tonight.. I can hear it really well at around 30-45 mph.. At HW speeds, the wind noise kind of drowns it out, but is still noticeable..

It sounds like a loose set of gears.. I do get a clunk when I gently downshift, when going into a stop and letting off the clutch and when starting off.. It's also started "chugging" (I guess) in the last 6 months. .

Is my 10b on it's way out or is this somewhat normal? It's not LOUD, but I can hear it when I floor the clutch.. it's comming from the back of the car and it IS the rear..

I'd take a look at the U-joints first. They are much cheaper and can make the noises you are describing.

^ Frickin U Joints are a MPITFA when you don't have the right tools...

I tried a bottle jack with two sockets, one small one big.. I even tried the cave man method of a big hammer and the two sockets... No go.. they didn't budge ONE FRICKIN BIT!!!

DARN U Joints! I suppose I can go to the Skills Center Sat and borrow their U Joint C Clamp seeing as EITHER ONE OF MY 2 SHOPS didn't have one..

Who's brilliant Idea was it for me to do this anyway?!?!

... (J/k do0d.. ) the back joints were stiff as all h3ll, the front ones moved easily (normal)... The backs were still greased, but stiff.. ANyway... I'll report back.. What ever it was it' isn't doign ti any more.. I think it's just normal 10B noise.. the occasional clunking..
