TV cable?

I feel stupid for asking this question but: Do all automatics have TV cables. The only autos I have had are 700-R4's. Now I have a turbo 350 in a 69 Camaro that I am finishing up. Today I was under the car finishing up some wiring and a shifter install when I notice a cable from the trans wrapped up and tied to the trans. Is that the TV cable. I checked my neighbors car with a TH350 and the cable was hooked to the carb. But it has a slide like a cruise control cable on a TB car, not an adjuster like on a 700-R4. I don't know how long it was hooked up like this or driven. What is this cable and what does it do? I am going to hook it up any way. Thanks.

that is what allows you to run the gears out longer and also give you to "passing gear" or the kick down when you punch it.

Thanks for the reply. I did a little research this morning and figured out what it was. I hooked it back up. I am hoping to fire the car up tomorrow. Thanks again
