Try a figure this out!
I have a 95 TA, A4. Car shifts normal from first on through out, no slippage during WOT shifts ( nice and firm ). part throttle shifts are great and deceleration downshifts are nice and normal.....
NOW, what is happening to it is that no matter what gear its in, it downshifts oddly if its dropping to a lower gear. It shifts and pulls hard then all of a sudden its like the convertor locks up solid and chips the tires ( after the shift) and the rpms drop down a bit. Its like a shift after the shift. It makes passing anyone allmost unbearable as its a semi violent action. It feel worse depending on what speed and what gear its shifts too, but its allways there. Any ideas? I want to rebuild the trans but dont want to miss the part that is causing this.
I have no idea if its the OE trans in the car or if its been tinkered with. I will tell you that if its stock that its the firmest stock trans Ive ever driven.
