transmission wont shift right

I have a 95 camaro z28 and the transmission doesnt want to shift into 2nd gear anymore. The transmission is a built 4l60e with a transgo shift kit and 2500 stall. What happens is when its about to shift the rpms jump to 4000 and it wont shift unless you let off the gas a little and then at like 60 its running almost 3000 rpms and sounds like im driving a pro street car now. Does anyone know what could cause this and how I can fix it?

I would bet you are actually shifting 1st to 3rd and skipping 2nd and have no 4th. Its likely the band lug pin area its broken through. Its a common failure with a stock band and a aggressive shift kit

If it is that can it be fixed without taking the transmission out?

I'm no 4L60 expert, but I highly doubt that.

My trans is doing almost the same thing. I have a 92 RS 3.1 stock and when I take off easy it rolls up to about 4500 before it starts to shift then it shifts fine. Then when I get at highway speeds, it cruises at around 2700-3000 but jumps back and forth to around 1500.
