transmission takes a while to shift? Why?
Looked through the forums and came up empty handed.
My problem is, when the car goes to take off from a rolling start, it takes a while to hit first gear. The rmp's go up a bit and then it goes into gear. About 2 years ago, I had a second buyers warranty so I had work done on the transmission to fix this. They never fully cured it, even after I took it back for the second time a week after they worked on it to fix it again. Now its more noticeably back. What is causing this? I don't have the coin to have a rebuild on the transmission.
normally this happens when I have to slow down for a car thats turning and then when i give it a bit, it revs up and then hits. It used to rev up and squeal the tires before this tranny shop looked at it.

The moment you touch the throttle it should begin to move. If the engine revs up a bit, then slams or hits hard then moves forward, the forward clutch pack is not holding at first, then with more throttle the transmission oil pressure rises, and brings the clutches on all at once. First, check the fluid level closely to make sure that it is full. Does it change with temperature? If you put the shift lever in "1" or the "2" position, does it make any difference? What is the condition of the fluid? You could add a 1/2 to 3/4 quart to see if this helps. If this has doing this for awhile, you have damaged the forward clutch pack, and it will need to be addressed.

if this ^^^^ doesn't work then yes it is more than likely the clutch pack (someones been stomping on the gas too hard) or your converter isn't locking right away (this could be fixed with more fluid) if the converter/or clutch pack is bad then it's time for a new tranny
