Exclamation Transmission QUICK Question!!

I need to buy a new torque converter and I was wondering if certain torque converters worked with certain tranny's. I bought a beefed up 4L60E from a member about a year ago and itis time to put her in. He didn't specify what year it came out of, but did say it would work with my 95. I am buying a vig 3000 and am worried about fittment. Any thoughts? Thanks a ton!!

Re: Transmission QUICK Question!!

Your good to go, if you bought a 4l60e for an LT1, I hope so or the guy lied to you! Converters are interchangable, as long as the splines are the same, and all LT1's are the same.

Re: Transmission QUICK Question!!

Thanks, makes things a ton easier now!! Is that 3500 pretty tame on the street? I want the 3000 for streetability. I am adding a 100 shot to what I already have...what do you think?! Thanks again.

I just read your other post about the converter and said that 2800 is a good converter. I go to the track every once in a while and don't drive the car too often. I just want it to have better low end at launch, for my cam pulls around the low 3xxx rpms. I have the stock 3.23's in her. I was thinking the 3000 would do the trick. Any thoughts on that?

Re: Transmission QUICK Question!!

yeah with your combo and needs/wants a 2800-3000 stall would be good.. As far as how I like the 3500 stall, and streetability.. No they don't go together well. I planned on taking it off the road as my daily driver this year, that is why I went to the 3500, plus mine actually flashes at about 4K because it was spec'd out for my car but with 3.73 gears and N2o... I just haven't gotten to doing either of those yet, so mine right now is esentially about a 3800 stall w/ these 2.73 gears... I love my stall but it was not picked for streetability, too bad my beater borke and I have been daily drving it for about a month now!
