Transmission problem.
Transmission problem.
I can't get my transmission to shift into park from inside the car. I pulled my console out and the shifter is in the right place, but as soon as I let my foot off the brake or let down the e-brake my car starts rolling. I jacked up the car and I can get it to engage into park by pushing the braket that the trans cable is connected to forward. A few people have already told me that it is probably a bad shifter cable. If this is the case, has anyone done this? Any tips? I would also like to know your opinion on what you think might be wrong.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Transmission problem.
I think that it's the problem as well. I called a couple of auto parts stores and they don't cary it. So I got a hold of a local GM dealer, they said it was about $46. Not bad.
Re: Transmission problem.
So I got the new shifter cable for $36. The new one had an adjustment on it so I looked at the old one that was still on the car and it was the same. So I tried to adjust it, nothing changed. So I put the new one in and it worked perfectly. The strange thing is that there dosen't seem to be anything wrong with the old one. Oh well.
