TransGo shift kit settings?

I hear there is 3 settings, mild, street/strip, and race. I have a 02 Z with the tci sf3000, i dont really care about comfort that much cause i like the feeling of a good hard shift, BUT i don't want it shifting so hard that it will harm the trans. should i go with the middle setting or the high setting? the trans only has about 34k miles on it and has no shifting problems. thanks for your recommendations...

What I've heard is that #1 is for tow trucks, ambulances, taxis. Basically a longer lasting stock feel. #2 is street/strip with moderate shifts. #3 is race only, rock hard shifting and will wear out the transmission.

I'd go #2.

I've run setting 2 for years.

You can identify by how many washers were installed... 1, 2, or 3

Re: TransGo shift kit settings?

When I build these units for the 10 & 11 second vehicles, I rarely use "one" spacer, as I find that if you match hole sizes to the converter & the servo you are using, you will not need any.

Re: TransGo shift kit settings?

What TransGo part # is the kit you guy's use?
I have info for the 4L60E-HD2, 4L60E-3, and 4L60E-Boost, but I am trying to get some specs for what I thought was #K799OZA but a search for that # does no good. Anyone have a part# or link?
I have used TransGo #SK 4L60E {series 'L'} with excellent results but am curious as to what all is included with that other kit I can't find.

I agree, and although the correct hole size has led to excessive assembly - trail - dissassembly ect. time for me since I'm new to building the 60e, I truley believe that is a major key to proper shift 'timing' {as with earlier tranny designs also}. I have a lot to learn with this tranny, but earlier model build techniques apply here also, just a little different and more of them. .

Re: TransGo shift kit settings?

Which kit are you looking for?, the "modified" version of the 4L60E-HD2?, or just the regular 4L60E-HD2?

That was not my question.
I don't know which TG kit he has. HD2 or Mod / Reg or ...? no telling what Gil has come up with lately
I'm just trying to figure out what 'TransGo # shift kit 'RocketCutlass' has since TransGo makes several shift kits for this {4L60E} tranny; that I know of.
Posting " TransGo shift kit settings?" is not near as much info as needed for an accurate response in a ~1/6 th AFAIK case since TransGo supplies several kits that modify this 60e tranny in different ways. Some of those kits provide parts that approach control stategies in diffent ways than others. And some of those different mod techniques contradict the philosophy applied in others. I imagine there are more TG kits I'm not aware of too. I don't know.
The "
4L60E-HD2?, or just the regular 4L60E-HD2
" are only a portion of the kits avaiable for this unit, but, in my opinion, may not be the best option available, but that's not the point.
I get my parts through a 'builder supplier' and the listings provided in my suppliers listing do not list kits available to the general public.
I am only wanting component contents information on what is available to the public to see what is included in those kits. I have 'HD2' and 'modified HD2' specs and the others I posted.
I tried searching around and don't see a publically available kit under the TransGo #K799OZA, {like what I tried to read here} {with my bad sight} but found nothing.
I'm trying to learn all I can about the 60e and have not been able to identify this supposedly #K799OZA option. I'm curious for my knowledge mainly, but maybe I can help more if I can find these specs. At least I, and others can be of more help, if we know what TG kit he {RocketCutlass} has.
So RocketCutlass, what TransGo part # do you have?
Thanks!!!

Re: TransGo shift kit settings?

This is what Trans-Go has available for the 4L60E,
(1) 4L60EHD2 Reprogramming kit, with the Hi-rev springs for the input drum.
(2) Performance Shift kit, same as above, but with a video, and no Hi-rev springs.
(3) Full manual Reprogramming kit, with the vacuum modulator and the Hi-rev springs for the input drum.
(4) Large main/intermediate/reverse boost valve. This comes in the above kits.
(5) Vacuum modulator.
(6) Vacuum bypass, for use with the vacuum modulator, when super/turbo charging.
(7) The SK4L60E Shift kit.
(8) Steel rings and primer springs for the front pump, 5,500rpm & lower.
(9) Steel rings and primer spring for the front pump, 5,500rpm & higher.
(10) Non-lockup valve to replace the existing TCC valve for non-lockup torque converters.
As far as I know this is what is available for the 4L60E. I have used all of the above, but I have never seen the video. Trans-Go has made changes to these kits many times over the years, but I have come across certain settings that work well for my applications, and I stick with what works.
