trans pan magnet thoughts

Im pulling the trans pan today changing the filter and fluid. I'm wondering has anybody ever stuck a extra magnet in the bottom of their pan. I have a magnet I pulled out of an old hard drive, there suppose to be the strongest out there, and i was thinking of putting in on the bottom. Any body have any thought to this. good. bad. yeah. nay.
Thanks
Josh

Sounds like a good idea. Since you're doing a filter anyway, you might want to consider one of the after market aluminum pan. There are some around $130 that increase capacity 2-3 quarts (cooler running trans) and have drain plugs that either already are or could be replaced with magnetic ones.
Just a thought ...

magnets help to catch metallic dust and particles that would normally end up in the filter
Certainly could not hurt anything

My 93Z pan has a magnet glued inside the pan, and its stock....... Are you suggesting an additional magnet on the outside???

No, I was going to put one on the inside but I'm gonna go with the aftermarket pan with a drain plug.
