Tranny won't Kickdown
Tranny won't Kickdown
I have an '88 camaro with a th-350 transmission in it. I have the kickdown adjusted to where when i hit the gas, the kickdown cable is pulled almost all the way (didn't want it too tight). The problem is that it's like the kickdown isn't even there. I can floor the car and it goes through the gears in a very short period of time, which kills the performance. Also if i'm in 3rd, it won't downshift if i hit the gas. I don' t think it's the cable adjustment, because i've tried everything. What could the problem be?
I had a problem shifting on a th350 and I moved the D-button(after pressing it down) on the cable underneath the hood all the way towards the firewall
Then, I got in the car and floored the gas pedal (with the car off) and the cable adjusted itself like a garbage bag tie as to where it needed to be at WOT
If it's not your cable, also check to make sure that the valve is not stuck - sometimes to unstick it when you're going about 20mph, punch it and it might work - I had that problem once with a 700r4 before i put my th350 in and it turned out to be metal dust clogging it - i hope you don't have the same problem!!!
