Tranny w/od for 1000hp??
Tranny w/od for 1000hp??
My pile'o new parts is slowly building and I have started looking into what tranny I am going to run.
I really want a lenco and they have a nice street unit called the ST1200 that will hold what little power I will be making and I can get it in a 5 speed configuration and run a high rear gear(2.56ish) to get the over drive effect when in 5th and I can tailor the ratios for the strip.
But this set-up would cost around 7500 by time it was in the car. And what clutch could I run on the street that would hold?? Or I could get a Bruno, Lenco Drive or Torq-link but I'm not sure about street use with these units.
The other option I am looking at is a Rossler or CPT 4l60e upgraded with all the best hard parts ect. Supposedly CPT has a 4l60e in the 9's but I worry if it can take the RPM's(8500-9k) that I am going to turn.
Anybody use either of these or have any input??

I'll let Frank speak for himself on the specifics, but I'll bet he can build a trans for your application.
Otherwise, a good 700R4 can be built to handle that kind of power. If you find a really good builder, a 200R4 can do it too.
