Tranny solenoids in 94 z28

How many solenoids does the 4160e in a 94 z28 have? I am having issues and a mechanic told me it might be one of the solenoids. When cold, it revs higher than usual, but does not rev higher than 3000 rpm. And seems like its not shifting. At idle seems to be fine. Release of the throttle causes rpm to drop as if at idle. After running for about 30 mins, i park and turn off the car. Turn it back on and seems to be back to normal . But i have noticed loss of power and torque when it is shifting properly. Car has 98,500 miles. If a solenoid, which one can it be, or what other issue might it have?????? Appreciate any input... Thanks in advance

Sounds like it might be a shift solenoid. There are 2 shift solenoids near the tail of the trans, one pressure solenoid, and a 3-2 downshift solenoid near the front.

I would try changing the 1-2 and 2-3 shift solenoids at the rear of the trans they are like 25 dollars each and service the filter at the same time.

Depends on which way the clips are in. Pull the pan and see.
