Tranny rebuild kit/shift kits...

Alright, budget not gonna allow a new tranny at this time. One in car at present is just fine, but most of the advice I have gotten here recommends starting build up at the tranny. So, that being said, what do yall think of going with a rebuild kit like the TCI Master Racing overhaul rebuild kit along with a Transgo shift improver kit to help beef up the transmission? Most likely not going anywhere over 400hp on motor anytime soon. After the two kits I am going 3.73 in the rear end and then heads/headers and possibly cam kit. Once I am able to hand over $1600 to $2000 for a built tranny, I am on it.

I would not go with the TCI Master Racing overhaul rebuild kit. The kit is lacking many parts and does not work well in these units. Go with the Street/Strip rebuild kit that I carry. It is the most complete kit on the market, and has been used very successfully by hundreds. If you have any questions, let me know?

The kit for $350? That comes with the shift kit it looks like. That will work on my 96' Z?

The one for apx. $350.00 is an upgrade, if that is what you are looking for. If your miles are high (over 50,000), then you would most likely need a rebuild kit.

What torque converter are you planning on using here? You mentioned heads and cam, what heads do you plan on going with? The camshaft, what will be the duration at .050" lift? And the lobe centerline? And anything else that you are doing to the motor? What is the intent of the vehicle?
