My wife has a 94 Z28, that we bought used. Car shifts hard from first to second and sometimes not any farther. The fluid is cloudy and is a little darker than maroon. I dropped the pan to change the fluid and filter but the parts store gave me a gasket for an 'L' shaped pan when it is actually sqaure.

This car did have a temp problem that has been solved it ran pretty hot.

1. What could be the problem?
2. What tranny does this car actually have?

OK...it's a 4L60E. Hoping that changing the fluid/filter and adding Lucas helps.

 

Anyone got an idea as to the problem?

 

I would scan for codes. But with fluid discolloration it may be time for a trans
