Tranny options for LS1

Im looking to run a LS1 (in a non-Fbody), and im not sure what trannys will bolt up in relation to the bellhousing. I wounldnt be totally opposed to making an adapter plate if thatwuld be an option.
Would only the 4L60/4L80E's work?? I need a 4th gear. Id really like a manual/automatic valve body like they make for the 700R4. Thanks.

You need a TH350 or TH400 with a Gear Vendors overdrive!!! A TH400 + G.V. overdrive = bulletproof!!!

Only problem is, the G.V. unit costs around $2000.

Sweet Jesus thats a lot of money for one gear.

Could I make a 700 as strong?? But if the 400 will work better then i might jsut have to do that. But the question that still remains, how will they bolt up to the Ls1?? Thanks.
