Help!!!
I just reinstalled the engine, after I spun a baring.
When the car is not in a gear it seems to have a small knock noise. When the clutch is pushed in the knock goes away.
What do you all think this is? Also the check engine soon light keeps coming on and blinking. It normaly stays on becuase my cat is cut off, but not blinking. Thanks to all who reply!!!

I'm not super knowledgable about the SES light, but I believe blinking means a misfire. First thing I'd look for are burned plug wires.

 

What you are describing in your tranny is fairly "normal" and happens in several of the 4th gens. Mine does it too I have heard some say it is the throw-out bearing and others say it is something else. Not sure what it is but mine has been doing it for over 100,000 miles and still works good so I'm not too worried about it

 

I've heard the same thing, and mine does it too. I doubt it's the throwout bearing though, because mine only has about 4000 miles on it and did it before and after it was replaced.

 

Mines made that noise ever since I did the A4->M6 conversion. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one to have the noise. I was beginning to worry...
