Bolt positions are different.

LT1 trannies have shown to handle alittle more abuse.

Bolt positions being on the bellhousing right? And the LT1 6-speed (Borg-Warner) is stronger than the LS1 trans (Tremec). Have they been serious problems?

I hate to say this but they are dang near the same trans and all parts will inter change save for the input shaft and front cover

Tremec bought out the B/W car trans department.

The only reason LS1 cars have more problems is they have more HP and drive them harder.

I like to build them with the newer Syncros blocker rings and the steel 3-4 fork.

as long as yours does not need many parts it is much cheaper to build your then buy a abused LS1 unit
