I just put in a LT4 hot cam in my LT1 and I have all the air intake stuff in orderI also have a 58 mm throttle body , with all the pully system done also. My question is I have the 460E automatic trans and I don't know were I should be with the stall speed I talked to a guy at crank converters and he said I could go as high as a 3600 rpm ,the car is only a toy but this seems high .I have 373 rear so I just would like to know if this sounds reasonable to someone else or do you think as i do it sounds a little to high. I was thinking around 2800 rpms. if you could shed some light on my problem I would really be thankfull

 

Check out www.converter.com Its the Precision Industries (Vig) site. Give them a call and they will help you pick your stall. They told me once that for a street/strip car you want your stall speed to be around 900 rpm below your torque peak.. This was just a guide, though...give them a call even if you don't want one of their converters, even though I highly recommend the Vigs...

I had a 2800 stall in my car with the HOTcam and some ported heads. I really wished at that time I had more stall, I could only get a 1.8X short time. I think a 3200-3500 would have done wonders for that car out of the hole. 3200 if you do lots of around town driving, 3500 if you want to sacrifice a little for better times at the track.
