which torque converter should i need for my car?
i will be putting in a CC305 or 306 with pro mags and such, 3.73 gears, and some suspension mods that are irrelevent.
i think 2500 would probably be enough, but i dont want to go too low and spend $700 and not be satisfied.
remember its a 93 Z

2500 is pretty moddest. maybe a 2800 stall w/ 2.0 str would work. I've got a 3200 w/ 2.5 str in my TA and love it. I was thinking of going with a 2800 at first, but everyone said to go a little higher then what you think you'll want. You will wan more. So I went with 3200, and am very happ with the results!

nope. The size of the stall will only help your performance. It multiplies the torque of your motor. Just puts your car in the powerband when you launch. Think of it as a clutch that you can dump for your auto.
people with stock converters will try to increase launch by holding the brakes and reving the engine as high as they can before the rear tires break loose. does this let my car stall high so i can just get on the gas when the light turns green?

you said its a 93Z? then no
your tranny is not computer controlled like the 94+ transmissions are
yours is basically a 700R-4
and futhermore a stall converter is completely independent of the computer; relying on fluid to transfer power to the gears in the tranny. you CAN use the computer to engage the lockup on the TC earlier than 4200 for cruising and such.
I am getting a 2600 stall on mine but thats just preference and what you want out of the car
soccerbum your link is broken.
i forgot my tranny wasnt controlled by the computer. i will probably not go extrordinarily high with the stall because ill race it from time to time but ill also be driving the car 300 miles from dallas to austin a few times a year

yes what they are doing is stalling the converter up. With the 4200 I am going with I will probably see about 3300 before the tires break loose. when you are stalled up at the light then you just let off the brakes and nail the gas, so at that point you are further up in the cars powerband than you would be if you took off from idle.
