Torque Arm Question

At what point is a torque arm that doesn't mount to the tranny needed?

I figure I am going to purchase a new torque arm before I swap my stock rear for the new 12 bolt. I'm not sure if I need to buy a torque arm that relocates the mounting point or if a tranny mounted adj. torque arm will surfice. I have yet to be to the track so I do not know what the car runs as I am worried about breaking something so I am waiting until I have everything I need installed. Here is a general description of whats in the car...

1994 Z28
Lt1 stroked 383
Vortech Supercharger 10lbs
SLP headers
4" mufflex
12 bolt moser
carbon fiber DS
strut tower brace
subframes w/extra supports added
G-load brace
panhard bar
LCAs w/relocation brackets
6point roll cage
etc...

Thanks
Mike

there are cars making serious power with the TA still mounted to the tranny. if I had the money for a new arm, I would buy one that mounts to the body (TrakPak) just for the instant center change and for the peace of mind to know i was not stressing the tranny housing.

Check out www.spohn.net they'll steer you in the right direction..good products, prices, and great customer service...even if you don't buy from them...

Thanks guys. I will probably go with a relocated mount.

I got the Spohn one, it is built bullit proof. But, it is hitting the driveshaft tunnel somewhere. I already cut out a small sheet metal patch at one area where it was hitting (close to where the torque arm mounts to the rear end).
