Tire Size comparo?

I currently have 17x9 SS wheels and 275/40/17's at all 4 corners. My car has been "tracking" pretty badly and everyone tells me it is normal for 275's. When I had my 245/50/16's, it never did this so I want to go back to 245's, but with the 17x9 rims. I assume it is possible and would not look "too funny", as I have seen other people with 245's on 17's, but what size tire should I get for the fronts and keep the same diameter if I plan to leave the backs at 275/40/17? Thanks,

Kyle

If you run a 245/45R17 they will be only a 10th of an inch shorter.

Thanks, Cody. I am assumming that with the 17x9's, the tire won't look to small width wise.

What brand are you going to run? Even though a tire might be the same size some manufactures are wider than others.

I'm not sure. I haven't even thought about tire brand. Any suggestions?

BFGoodrich tires are usually wider per size.

Don't be surprised if you change tires and find you have the same problem. I suspect your front wheel alignment is slightly off. Take your car to an alignment center and have it checked.

I did get an alignment originally. Didn't help much. I also have a hard time believing that it is a couple of exrtra inches in tire width making that much of a dramatic change but everyone I have talked to said that the 275's will do this.
