Time for a new transmission?

Things that I have noticed lately:

I used to be able to chirp into second gear. When I try doing that now, Rpms hang at like 6000 and its not shifting. Im afraid the engine will blow so I ease off the gas.

When cruising at 70mph on the hwy, I wanna move a bit more, I give some gas and the rpms go up but the speedo still says 70.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Re: Time for a new transmission?

With as little mods as you have the only way it will chirp second is if the shifts are set much too hard which is likely to damage this tranny anyway.

Does it freewheel after trying to shift or does it stay in first?

What do you mean by freewheel?

It shifts.
Buddy of mine decided to take out the fuel filter. It was clogged up pretty bad. So we just changed that. Lets see what happens.

Re: Time for a new transmission?

Putting in a new gas filter didnt help all that much. Looking into Jasper transmissions.

Re: Time for a new transmission?

I would not even begin to consider Jasper for a 4L60E.
If you want "budget" consider a GM remanufactured.
I want to say there is a guy in Long Island that does a good 4L60E maybe ask around.
