Arrow time for a CLUTCH

ok so my clutch went out completely.

i went ahead and purchased an autozone "duralast " clutch kit.
retails $159 w/ tax = ~ $172 had a 20% discount. left the store with $139 out of pocket.

PART # NU31265

the pressure plate looks like a knock off but it is the LT4 design.

CAST # on PP is C70043.

the disc is a GM OEM VALEO DISC.

my z28 is only lightly modded. my current modifications :

Cloyes HD TIMING CHAIN/SET, BBK UD/ PULLEYS, GM OEM AC DELCO OPTISPARK DISTRIBUTOR, GM WATER PUMP, SLP INTAKE,

now i will be installing my LTs w/ ypipe and borla catback. as well as aftermarket chrome valve covers and OTVC KIT.

CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD PERFORMANCE/STREET DISC? WHICH WILL A NICE SUITABLE DISC. ???

thank you ,

GILBY.

This is a clutch sticky in the Drivetrain forum.

Pay attention to my posts on the Autozone clutch. I had trouble with the pressure plate being way out of balance. Others have done fine. Should give you a good start.

thank you. i appreciate your input....
ive actually come across you thread prior to purchasing my clutch set.

i was really hoping on getting a valeo LT4 PP..
turns out only the disc is from valeo.

now you had a problem with your AZ duralast pressure plate
because it was not balanced?

what do you suggest i go ahead an do??

the clutch kit only has limited lifetime warranty.

i just shelled out $140..dont want to spend another 280 on a valeo lt4 pressure plate.
i still have to order a new/replacement flywheel.

my best bet is to throw it on and see if the balance is fine right??

I am running a pp and disc from autozone and have had no problems. I say, go ahead and give it a try. Should be plenty adequate for your mods.

There are some people who have tried it and had good luck. I tried two(took the first one back and got another) and still could feel bad vibrations in my shifter.

I noticed my link on ebay didn't work any more, so try this place....

http://www.oereplacement.com/advance...=CLUTCH%20KITS

www.oereplacment.com if the link above does not work. Just drill through the menus.

i just put this disc in my car and its awesome and well made so dont let price fool you i put this next to some of the other clutch disks we had in the shop and to tell you the truth it fairs much better then some of the other diskes out there for twice the price.

the duralast brand PP and GM VALEO disc for $140

is probably the best bang for the buck clutch kit out there, IMO.
