Question Thumping noise on acceleration

Problem:
97 Z-28 4L60 Auto tranny has a thump he says. I crawl my sorry old butt underneath and shake drive shaft we have movement of about 1/8" diametral.

Is there usually that much slop of the drive shaft?
Do these normally wear out?
Bearing or bushing in there? (I've read bushing so that's what I'm assuming.)
Can that be replaced with the rear seal?
How long will this run if driven nicely?
Tranny mount? from what I read this is a problem also.

Can I (HE) change out just the tail stock on the tranny or does he have a lot of other expense and sweat in the Texas sun to go through?

I was surprised it wasn't leaking either. Not one drop or any residue.

I am still concerned about the slop of shaft fit into the rear of transmission. It sure seems like alot of movement compared to what I am used to.

Thanks I'll (kid) will install mount first and we'll test and post results. Thanks for now.

Can I just remove the torque arm and not see any difference in driving or perfromance? Why is it there then?
