Thinking of a lower gear ratio?

im thinking of lower gears, like 4.10 maybe, but what will that do for my nearly stock car? will it lower quarter times? help alot on launch? will my car handle a change like that for daily driving? And also, if any of you guys have the M6 with these gears, at 65 in 6th, what rpm's are you running?

Re: Thinking of a lower gear ratio?

i heard these are great gearxs for the 6spd
it will definately help get you spinning off the line
the only way it will help is if you have traction that can handle that kind of torque "increase"
i plan to do it once i get some money

also, may i suggest the 4.11s?
these are like 9 pinion 37 rear insteand of the usual 10 pinion, 40 ring gears
they are a lot stronger since they have less teeth
somebody else might be able to chime in with where to get them

They will help if you can hook up. I was in another members car m6 that has 4:10's and you could tell it help the power range but he had some no tread tires and he was just spinning through 3rd. and finally getting traction in 4th. But if you can get traction they will help for sure.

that sounds sweet, i wouldnt mash it like that, i would take it to the slip limit, tires cost too much. but i do alot of driving, im a student about 120 miles from home and i drive there sometimes. i just wanted to know the highway mannerisms and lost fuel mileage.

Re: Thinking of a lower gear ratio?
