Is there a "quick change" or Nascar rear end.
Is there a "quick change" or Nascar rear end.
Thought I hear about Steve Foose (sp?) installing a "nascar" rear end in a camaro. Whats the good word, anyone heard of this. Good bad ugly?
Re: Is there a "quick change" or Nascar rear end.
i've heard of it, but really, what would you really need a quick change rear end on a street car or a drag car?
you can easily dial in the gears on a ford 9" for much cheaper i think
but http://www.wintersperformance.com/ has quick change rears and there will be a good bit of custom work involved to make it fit properly but anything can be done with the right amount of welding

Yes, a place called Speedway Engineering in Sylmar, CA makes quick change rear-ends. The late model dirt car i crewed for had one (actually, most of them do). With a little practice, it's possible to change the final gear ratio in less than four minutes. I do not know if these are what the NASCAR boys use, but i'm sure it's something like it.
