Re: TH350 kickdown??

you could try emailing lokar. not sure what there site is, but search for it you'll find it. if not dont worry bout it. just take it off. all it does is kick down automatically when acellerating from a cruise. you can do that manually.
but if you do figure it out, post it up on here for sure.

manually downshift when you stomp it. it wont explode like a 4l60.

This is the one I ran. It was like the only one I could find long enough other than madman's.

Lokar- LOK-KDP-2350HT I got it from summit.

Now I have a manual valvebody and just shift the car myself.

Re: TH350 kickdown??

question about your manual valvebody, does the car engine brake when you let off the throttle, or does it just free rev until you give it gas? Im prolly getting a man. valvebody when I do the conversion.

Man I can,t wait to get a TH350 in mine so I won,t have to worry about it anymore.

All my old school musclecars had either TH350 or 400 and I never had tranny problems. Yeah I am going to miss OD but on the other hand I will actually be able to drive the car without babying it and not worry about the transmission blowing up.
I am skipping the kickdown as well and going with a manual valvebody.

It's just like driving a stick without a clutch pedal. You have to shift up and down gears. You can take off any 1,2,3 gear if you wanted.

Re: TH350 kickdown??

yeah, but a stick you can push in the clutch to make smooth transitions from gears. really, the only thing that seems like it might get annoying to me would be downshifting when you slow down. I had a TH400 before and the guy that built it left out a band I think it was so the car didnt compression brake. it would coast down like a stick w/the pedal pushed in. then reengage if you put your foot back into the gas. I wonder if they can do that w/a TH350.
