While I'd admit that it's "different", it isn't hard to get used to.
I still have to decide how I'm going to mate a speedometer/odometer to the tranny, but that's minor.
The choice of a 4.10 rear by the previous owner is more of a concern to me. With a TH400 that has a 1:1 third gear, highway driving is a real chore. I'm contemplating swapping it out for a 3.42 rear so that I can drive on highways for more than a few miles at a time. I'm hoping that gas mileage will also improve with the change. I think that the car has enough HP (especially once I use the 200HP NOx shot) to handle the rear change and it'll improve the car's topend.
Good luck with your project. I love the torque that strokers provide. Yesterday, I had to pull out from a side street quickly in order to take advantage of a rare gap on a busy road and wound up smoking the tires through 1st and 2nd gear under moderate throttle. I may be 47, but there's nothing better than seeing smoke coming off of my tires.
