Lightbulb Tell me about these "updates" from Pro-Built.

My transmission is fine for now. Recently, it has held 3rd for a second or 2 too long under WOT once or twice. I would like to take a few days off of work and probably tackle installing this myself. I've had 3 rebuilds in 2K2 and since then it's been OK. I'm getting ready to spray soon (finally) so I would like some insurance. I would refer to this handy book:

I couldn't screw up more than that shytehead did the first 2 times. I figure a few nuts and bolts couldn't be too hard to mess with. If not, I would rather not take it to anybody around here again, nor send my 4L60E out anywhere, causing more painful downtime.

I had a nightmare last month where I couldn't shift into 3rd, but then I realized hey, how is driving even possible with no differential in the rear end?

Those are all good pieces in that kit - but if you really want to avoid downtime, spend $200 and buy a good 4L60E core and install all these parts in that one. That will really minimize your downtime.

That ATSG manual is somewhat helpful, but not a lot. It'll help you get through a rebuild, but the FSM is far more indepth if you start "wondering" about things.

Be warned that if this is your first time in a 4L60E, you'll most likely have 20-40 hours in it by the time you're done. You'll also need to buy, borrow or fabricate a spring compressor and a lip seal installer to replace the apply pistons.
