T56... Shift Fork or Syncro issue... help?!

Long story short, basically i just replaced my Clutch/pp/to bearing. very happy to do so because car drives like a dream. But. i am not having an issue with 1st gear. now i know that the t56 is not the smoothest of the transmissions out there. But when the car is idling and in neutral with the clutch pedal pushed down, the car WONT shift into first. it will shift in all of the other gears fine, but not first. the only way to get it into 1st gear is to shift into 2nd, and quickly push it into first, all while depressing the pedal. once in gear it operates normal. heres the kicker, which makes me think its not that syncro, when the car is moving and in RPM range of 1st gear it shifts normally, no issues at all (input and output shaft spinning)

Any idea as to what the issue is? this has all happened since the new RAM HD clutch has been installed (100 miles ago) :/

Bingo... luckily i have access to a GM master tech. so i brought the car to him and basically he asked if the guy who installed the clutch put a shim in with the flywheel install, and i told him yes.
a .025" shim with a .020" flywheel resurface. He basically said the shim wasn't needed. soooo back to square 1 :/
