t56 rebuild

im pretty sure i destroyed 2nd gear in my trans since theres nothing there now... haha anyways i was looking at the kit that sixspeedsinc.com sells, just wondering how hard it would be to rebuild, i have lots of experience with this kind of stuff, ive just never tore into a manual trans before, my friend would help me because he has done a few old 4 speeds and stuff, but never a t56, so how hard is it?

This should give you an idea of what you're looking at:

I've never done it myself, but I know you will need a special gear puller and a hydraulic press. If you have access to those, you might want to give Six Speeds Inc or D&D Performance a call. They rebuild lots of T56s and can give you a general idea.

thanks green, i see your trans is from sixspeeds, how was the deal with them? were they on time with it? how has it held up? i was going to buy the kit from them for like 600 or so and i just figured it would be easier than paying the extra 350 and dealing with the shipping the trans back and fourth, id like to try and do it myself, i have a full machine shop that i can use, so theres a press, and i could probably make any kind of puller that i would need or just find a way to press things off.....

They do good work, and they are nice to talk to. It took them 8 weeks for mine, but that's because I ordered a complete tranny. The only problem I had was with DHL, who they use to ship it. My brother got his rebuilt by them too and he had great service. They say their T56 is good up to 700 HP, and mine is still going strong at about 12k miles.
