t56 question

so in the manual it says that when you pull the shifter out, if that little plastic cup comes out of the metal housing you need to replace that housing because the cup is supposed to be glued in there...

am i reading this right?? could i just epoxy it, or does it matter that much?

reason i'm bringing this up is because mine came right out and stuck to the shifter ball. last time i had it on the road i thought the trans was screwed, the shifter would lock up and i couldn't get it into any gears. there wasn't any grinding or anything it just jammed up. so i expected broken peices inside my tranny, something jamming the shifter rail.

well, come to find out i toasted the clutch, sheared the outer friction material from the hub. well i cracked the tranny open on both ends and everything looks pretty kosher inside.

so, why was it jamming up? clutch issues or maybe this cup got jammed up somehow?????

any thoughts?

mike
