T56 Question

Just got my conversion kit today and was wondering what the tube is on the top of the tranny that stops up by the bellhousing?

It's a vent tube. You'll notice a vent on the top of the rear end too. Hot oil causes hot air which has to go somewhere.

Thx. While I have your ear, my tranny was shipped dry where does the fluid go in.

I just poured it in the shifter tower, since the shifter was off anyway. It is supposed to go in the plug on the drivers' side about halfway up the case. Fill till it runs out of the plug. About 3.5 quarts. Kind of a pain to get it in there if you don't have a pump of some sort.

I saw the plug there, but was thinking there had to be a easier way since putting it in the side hole would be a b!tch after installing it. Thx for the tip. I may not be able to wait for warmer weather to do the conversion, the auto's starting tp slip more and more.

Ouch!

Yours is a daily driver I take it. Well, apparently Alex and friends did his in 3 days. I just fired mine up Saturday, for the first time since the end of November. I like to take my time on big projects like this. That way I am not likely to wreck more than I fix when I get angry about stuff that isn't wokring out like it is supposed to.

Anyway. Good luck. I'm sure you will enjoy the car much more. I know I am REALLY looking forward to driving the M6. I go out to the garage every now and again, sit in the seat and make vroom vroom noises while I shift the gears.

I know. I'm slightly psychotic!

he he.

Yup its a daily driver... I did heads and cam two years ago, took me and a friend ~4 days to complete. So for the T56 conversion I'll prolly take a thurs & fri off and get it finished up over a weekend. I figure I'll get it all pulled apart the first two days and then I'll have some help the next two to get it back together.
