T56 question
Now Ive never owned a 6 speed 4th gen before so my question is that i found a 94 z28 vert 6 speed with a bum 6th gear, now in your guys honest opinions if i absolutely baby the transmission, how long do you think it would last till i start having more problems? i know eventually it will need to be replaced or rebuilt but how long?

I don't know if I fully understand the inner workings of a transmission, but I own an m6 '94, and I'd point out that I almost never use 6th gear. Even on the freeway at 70mph, I stay in 5th at about 2600rpm's. I only use 6th gear if I set the cruise control at 70 or higher. 6th is sluggish with almost no acceleration. If 6th gear being bad won't affect any of the other gears, I'd say you'd be fine.

6th gear is easy to replace in the tranny, just fix it. Depending on what is actually broken it might cost you quite a bit because of the design on the countershaft, it has a one piece 5-6 gear.

first of all, not using 6th gear is just extra (useless) wear and tear on your car. I use 6th if I am 55 or above in my GFs stock Z28 (gearing).
As far as the trans, pieces of metal could be floating around.. which is bad. I would rebuild it.
