T56 Input shaft play

How much play should there be in the input shaft? I have a fair amount of side to side play, but nothing in and out... Is this ok?

jchevy:
The pilot bearing/bushing in the flywheel locates the shaft laterally. A good reason to replace that bearing everytime the clutch is replaced.

Mine has the play too and its from the tapered input bearing and only being supported on one end. Like said above, the pilot will index the input shaft correctly. Its normal ASSUMING the preload on the mainshaft is set correct.
