T56 gurus in here! Input shaft seal questions
I got a 95 LT1 T56. Only 29K miles, bought new. From almost
day one I used Mobil 1 ATF in the T56. The tranny is out for a new clutch. I did have wetness inside the bellhousing. I think both the rear main and tranny input shaft seal are leaking ( more wet at the input shaft seal/ throwout bearing collar)
This " collar" that is pressed into the front tranny cover,is what the TO bearing rides on/ guides the TO bearing /protects input shaft. It looks as as if maybe the fluid is wicking past the outer surface of this shaft. The inside of the collar also is slighty wet. I want to eliminate any chance of this leaking again, so,
T56 experts:
-Does Mobil 1 ATF REALLY compromise the seals? I find this hard to believe. My rear seal is perfect. I`ve beat this tranny. Powershifts, botched gearshifts (felt like whole car jumped in the air. Had some loose change in ashtray that ended up all over the interior
) Gotta believe the Mobil 1 has helped it.
- The part of the collar that is exposed to the inside of the tranny: You can see that it is a welded piece. There is some minor weld spatter where the
IP shaft seal resides. Maybe it is leaking on the outside of the seal because of the weld spatter.
-Can I press this collar out/in w/o damage?
Thanks for all the help!

Re: T56 gurus in here! Input shaft seal questions
Update:
I removed the front cover, and pressed out the "collar" There is an O-ring at the collar. Put a little bit of RTV around the press fit, installed new input shaft seal. Everything went back together real easy. It`s nothing to change the input seal.
Also I called D&D Performance (T56 Dealer) They said that they`ve never seen any problems with using Mobil1 ATF.
