T56 3,4,5,6 synchros shot-Q's

Hey, i just found out the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th synchros are shot on my 99 SS i just bought a week ago. I know these transmissions have a good reputation. I was just wondering what would cause this?
I drive the car correctly and never powershift. I'm guessing its the previous owners doing.
The clutch is disengaging and engaging correclty and grinded the gears once
Just wondering if you guys have any input on what might of caused this so i can avoid it in the future.
I was also wondering how the t56 is compared to the 60e as far as problems go. Not racing applications just daily driving.
Thanks again.

as far as daily driving depends on how much highway vs daily grind traffic you deal with. for small citys with a LOT of traffic auto everytime, lots of highway drivin you cannot beat the gas mileage the 6 speed will earn you. as far as all those synchros bein shot are you sure your clutch is fully disengaging? i had a similar issue with mine in 5th mainly and sometimes 6th, it got progressively worse until i almost coudlnt shift, turns out my master cylinder is SHOT, its leaking down, not working properly on top of that and was ou of fluid the day i coudlnt shift at all so now i have my new gm pre-bled that i got for $114 good luck with it though man, for a 99 to already be shot sounds unbelievable to me..

Why are the 3-4, and 5-6 sycros bad? Does it grind a lot? Its a good tranny. Just make sure the guy working on it has experience. I had to build mine myself after a local tranny shop messed up my 3-4 syncro. They supposedly had experience (but sucked), and I learned by just doing it. Its easy really.

Well it grinded when going into 5th and sometime 6th. I had the tranny checked by a local shop and they said those synchros are shot.
I'm hoping that it was the previous owner that did this.

hmm, id still have another shop check into the hydraulics for you firstbefore jumping straight into the trans. Because 5th and 6th is where mine started actin up when the master started goin.

The transmission has been tron apart and they visually verified the those synchros were bad. The grinding only happened sometimes on mostly only into 5th. Wouldn't it be noticeable if the clutch isnt disengaging all the way?
The motor revs freely and the car doenst lurch forward or anything.

Wow, dont tell me that lol, mine just acts crazy with the clutch im sure its the hydraulics with mine because sometimes i can put my foot more than halfway to the floor without moving the PP or clutch at all, then after it warms up a bit its all fine *Shrug* after running for about 30 mins it never grinds. oh well, good luck with the rebuild!
