T5 VSS versus T56 VSS - I need guru's help
First a little background,
I'm in the process of changing my T56 over to a Tremec GM aftermarket style T56 in my 94 Formula. This swap will allow me to run a standard Mcleod or Lakewood blowproof bell housing, a long finger style adjustable pressure plate, a sintered iron disk, and an internal type hydraulic throw out bearing. The aftermarket style T56 available through D&D will put the shifter back to within 1/8" of the original location. It will be fitted with the Viper output shaft, steel shift forkes, etc. The problem is, the GM aftermarket T56 is set up for a mechanical spedo drive like a T5. D&D says that they can't just put the T56 style reluctor and Pick Up in the tailhousing of the GM aftermarket T56. Now to the questions???
Will a T5 Reluctor and Pick Up VSS signal work for the 94 PCM with T56 code. I think the T5's were 4 pulses per rev???. T56 is like 17 pulses per rev. Is the pulse wave compatible (square vs sine) I'm kind of thinking there were some differences.
or
Will the fancy VSS adaptor that's being used for all of the TH400 conversions fit into a T5 style hole.
This is really strange, Its kinda like Im retrofitting backward to older technology. I need to get this figured out before I dump the bucks into a new trany.
Thanks,
Steve

Search for the SGI-5, it's a universal speedo interface. Changes the pulse rates. I've got one ready to install in my '92.

That little gizmo looks like it would do the job alright. Maybe not as clean as I would like, but hey, if it works I'm in business!
Thanks for the tip.
Any other Ideas? I'll post on Third Gen also to see what they might know.
