Hi all--i have a t56 trans for my 96 firebird that recently lost 5th and 6th gear, it is still drivable and nothing else has seemed to stop working which leads me to believe its a shift fork. Ive never gutted a T56 before, how long of a job am i lookin @? thanx

Take a look at the service manual and see for yourself.

5th & 6th are the "easiest" gears to get to . They're in the tail section of the T56, so you don't have to rip the whole thing apart to get to them. You just need a REALLY long puller to pull the gears off the shaft!!!
