t-56 overdrive limits

How weak is it REALLY? What can be done to strengthen it? I want to hook up 700+

Mine (stock) held up to 700+rwhp with no problem.

What about 5th gear? I have heard unsubstantiated rumors that 5th gear was a LOT weaker than 4th.
