T-56 Clunking noise
T-56 Clunking noise
Ok i am talkin with a guy about a T-56 he has. He said he just had it rebuilt about 6K ago and now when ever he puts it into 3rd or 4th gear it makes a clunking noise.... Once its in gear its fine no noise no nothin... All the other gears are fine and no other noise what so ever...
So my question is, what do you guys think the problem is. I was thinkin maybe a bent 3-4 shift fork?? What do you guys think???
Thanks Brad

Re: T-56 Clunking noise
Just had a thought, would the clutch not disengaging properly cause this. But wouldn't it be like that in all gear instead of just 3&4?

Re: T-56 Clunking noise
somehtings obviously loose..
Improper low tranny fluid, loose bolts or other attaching parts, improper flywheelhousing to engine crankshaft alignment, noisy tranny bearings, noisy gears.
I doubt its improper flywheel housing to engine cuz its only 1 gear.
I would always suggest selling it used and buying a new 1 to save a head ache cuz people seem to mess up the rebuilds a lot.
