Question strengthen a T56 ???

>What exactly (or about) is done to the 6 speed transmission to make it stronger ?
I have a stronger :
engine (bored / stroked , S/C , and N2O)
rear end (12 bolt)
drive shaft (aftermarket steel soon)
clutch (stage 3)
just curious especially since I don't have anymore money until after Christmas .

First off, you are going to need a street twin clutch Go ahead and sell that Spec now....that is not going to live.

As far as the T56....pretty much a cryoed input/output (main) shaft, steel 3-4 fork (which helps a ton), and possibly upgraded synchros is about it. Taner went 9.6@141 with that setup, tho I am not sure if he has upgraded synchros.

Also, I am starting to hear about G-force offering some serious upgrades to T56s. Apparently, they are starting to manufacture/machine their own upgraded parts based on what they have done with the Mutang T5s. Some dude on LS1tech.com says he has a G-force upgraded T56 in his car (pro-shifted). Hopefully something soon there as that would be the ticket for the big hp M6 crowd

Not sure where to get the cryoing done, maybe Brook or Jason can chime in here.

As for the other parts, you can check D&D Performance and Donato Engineering.
http://www.ddperformance.com/

I don't think Donato has a website, but you can email him. donatoeng@aol.com
John is who you need to talk to you. He seems very knowledgeable and willing to help you out with what you need.
Good Luck.

Rodney at Transmission Specialists, they call him the t-56 king. He did custom keys, good synchros, steel shift forks and several other good parts for an extremely reasonable price. It took him *1* day to ship it back.. Really really stand up guy and I can't say enough about him. I had some problems with my clutch which killed the tranny prematurely, and he fixed it under warranty. Even loaned me shipping and let me pay him back.

camren@insightbb.com

He is located in Indiana, but shipping both ways will be about $100. Considering the price he quoted me, it was well worth it. D&D wanted $100 more to do it, and said it'd be 2 weeks before they touched it.

Where is Rodney located in Indiana? Is that his email that you listed above? Also, do you know if he'll do the Viper upgraded output shaft? Thanks.

SPEC makes a darn good clutch. My stage 3 has held up fine to my 4000 lb Caprice running 12.1 @ 114mph on slicks shooting 100 shot of nitrous. It wouldn't get a street twin just yet

I'm gone.

There was a big ol' thread in Advanced Tech on this topic a few months back - that'd be a good place to start.

In my car, I'm running a Street Twin clutch, upgraded blocking rings (carbon composite), Viper steel 3-4 fork, and the Viper output shaft. I've managed so far to get about 1500 miles on this setup without breaking anything, which for me is quite an accomplishment

For the money, I think that this has provided about the best value out there - it'd be possible to get a bit more strength via fancy cryo treatments and such, but I don't think that's the best way to go on a best.
