strength of 4.10s
strength of 4.10s
it looks like my pinion bearing is out and i figured since i have to replace it i might as well change all my seals and since im doing that i might as well get gears.
i wanna know if 4.10 will be a total time bomb in my car i have full bolt ons and full rear suspention including a torque arm.
as it is when i shift from first to secound it feels like soemthing is breaking on cheap tires. i never plan to put slicks or any tire stickier than som bfg KD's on this rear.
i know 410s are not the strongest route to go and that i should prob buy a 12 bolt but i cant afford to buy one at this time.

Re: strength of 4.10s
i have been running mine for a while with 295 toyos on the back, just this last summer i probably made 20+ track passes with some 1.9 sixty foots and mine is still fine. I have a torsen carrier and do a lot of street racing as well. My car also has a slp clutch and makes 350rwhp and aboutt he same torque. I am putting in 3.73s and about another 80-100hp this winter so i am really going to push the limits i guess. I think if i leave street tires on it will be fine, thay are kinda a cushion if you launch at too high of rpm they go up in smoke.

Re: strength of 4.10s
I don't see why 4.10's would be weaker than any other ratio. I'm sure a lot of guys will chime in with "but I know this guy and that guy that broke their 4.10's when they put them in" and "4.10's break all the time" but the thing is, chances are the guys running 4.10's are into RACING and MODIFYING their cars, and they probably would have broke whatever gears were in their 10-bolt, whether they were 4.10's or 2.73's.
