Street Twin Install Problems

So this winter I had the car all torn apart doing a few things. I had the tranny out and had a look at the clutch and it was getting worn out, so time for a rebuild. I got the clutch back a few weeks ago and I got around to installing it over the last couple of days. So everything is all bolted back and I go to start it, right after I turned the key I could feel something hit and stop the motor from cranking over. I felt it through the clutch pedal and the pedal wouldn't go right to the floor anymore I would go in some but stop about an inch shy of the floor.

The last summer the clutch was getting worn out, it was starting to slip and was getting harder to get it into gear and shift into 1st gear when the car was stopped. So I had the pedal adjusted to release the clutch at the top of the pedal, which was alot higher up then when it was first installed.

I took the cylinder that pushes the clutch fork in off and everything seemed fine how it normally should. Then I turned the engine over by hand and everything spun around fine, nothing was hitting. So what are your thoughts I was careful on how I installed everything, is it even possible to put it together with a disk in backwards??? I don't think it you could assemble the clutch like that, and I have had the clutch in and out of the car a couple of times with no problems.

Did you use a street twin flywheel?

Sounds like the clutch fork is hitting the studs holding the clutch assembly to the flywheel.

The clutch fork is hitting the cover. You need to trim the "T" brackett that holds the fork in place. I would trim in .030" to .050" off. You have new discs & a new pressure plate that has now shifted the overall height of the unit. This is why the fork hits.

Well I pulled everything apart and found some bad news 2 teeth broke off of the flywheel So I guess I am screwed for now, the clutch fork hit one of the studs holding the presure plate to the flywheel. The only part i dont understand is the studs are at a set hight from the flywheel and that can't be adjusted. I had the clutch pedal adjusted as close to the floor as you can make it. someone was pressign the clutch pedal to the floor while I turned the engine over by hand and the fork was still hitting the studs...

I wonder what the maximum allowed hight the studs are supposed to stick out from the face of the flywheel. My studs are all sticking out about 1/64" shy of 2 1/4". Does anyone know what the actual hight is supposed to be?? I am starting to think that they sent me this clutch back with the studs being too high
