Strange Engineering

Ive had my 12 bolt since 2005 and put about 15k miles on it. From day one it has been a Noisey SOB! I purchased it because i was tired of breaking 10 bolts. Recently i broke 3 wheel studs off it. I started breaking it down trying to fix it and found out it had c clip eliminators so i already had the carrier apart looking for the c-clips. i checked the bearings on the carrier and found some bad damage on the ring side. I had a friend from a local shop look at it. He said it wasnt shimmed tight enough. I want to know if Strange is to blame for this damage. I will include pictures below.

I called strange with the issue and currently Tech support is looking at the pictures im posting here. Over the phone they cant seem to find me in thier data base. When i purchased it i called them and paid them. They collected my information and frieghted the rear end to me. Over the phone they made it seem like they wont help me because they cant find me in thier computer. I have no information on the purchase as ive moved a few times since then and well reciepts get lost. Hell i cant even remeber which Credit card i put it on. I'm Very frustrated at the whole situation. because im having to fix something i spent a small fortune on so i wouldnt have to repair it. I have always boosted Strange Engineering to friends and other fbody folks now im feeling like i shouldnt have.

Not going to get much simpathy from me. I've been using Stange Eng. Rears since the 60's. Have an S60 for my 97 on order right now.
Noisey, is a relative term. Most after market rears are noisy as the gears are cut for strength not noise reduction. Also if you dont know the difference between gear noise and (bad) bearing noise it would be partly your fault!
I had a friend from a local shop look at it. He said it wasnt shimmed tight enough.
How many rear has this guy done? How would he know? Looks like bad lube to me! What brand/weight did you use?
I also would NEVER expect any manufacture to repair something I've been using for 5 years, especially if I can't provide receipts.
Anyway if all you have to do is replace the bearing..it could have been worse!

Well the warranty differs from 33 - 35/40 spline axles. 33 spline = 3 yr warranty. 35/40 spline = 5 year warranty. To the OP, which one did you choose?

My 35-spline S60 only had a one year warranty and that's just against manufacturing defects not abuse, neglect, etc. Ultimately it's up to Strange to make that call though. The Strange folks have been very good to work with in the cases where I've had issues, which haven't been many.
